About the Role
The successful electrical apprentice understands electrical systems, wiring and safety procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist licensed electricians with the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems in residential, commercial and industrial settings
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit and wiring
- Pull wire through conduits and walls to complete circuit installations
- Connect electrical power to lighting fixtures, equipment and devices
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine wiring
- Support troubleshooting of electrical issues under the supervision of a Journeyperson
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment on job sites
- Follow all company safety policies and comply with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements
- Assist with maintaining tools, materials and equipment in good working order
- Participate in ongoing training and development to progress toward electrical certification
- Support work with Quinte Smart Homes, which may include running Cat 5 and other low-voltage cabling for smart home and security system integrations
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- OSSD or equivalent
- Enrolled as a registered electrical apprentice
- A reliable way to commute to work or to the shop
- Excellent work ethic, punctuality and willingness to learn
- Registered electrical apprentice within their second term or higher (around 2,000 hours of on-the-job training) is an asset
Working Conditions
- Working hours are generally between 9 AM – 5 PM or 8 AM – 4 PM from Monday - Friday
- This position requires working on client sites with preparation conducted from the shop
- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds and handle heavy equipment
- Must be able to work in tight/confined spaces or at heights
- Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, lift, and climb stairs, ladders, roofs and scaffolding
Remuneration: Dependent on term level and experience
Hours: 30 – 44 hours per week
